Today I’m starting a new chapter in my working career, starting as a Systems Engineer at Brocade in Australia. To say I’m excited is an understatement!
Brocade is well-known as the market leader in Fibre Channel networking, and an organisation with a strong router and switch portfolio.
Brocade has been making tracks lately as a company that enables the transition to a more open, cloud-based infrastructure with a heavy emphasis on simplicity and scalability.

Remember how I said I was going to take the free Brocade vRouter Engineer exam? Well, I just passed it today.
The passing score was 62%, got 86% so not too shabby if I say so myself. If you did the web based course and went through the BCVRE in a nutshellguideyou should be well set up for passing the exam.

I recently had some time to spare, and given my interest in the areas of SDN and NFV I wanted to see if I could find some virtual hardware (ok, software) to play around with and set up a virtual network.

So, it’s time to get serious again. After travelling for a few months, visiting 5 continents in the process, we’re back home in Australia.
It’s an amazing experience and it’s great to just being able to do what you want: visiting amazing places like the Galapagos Islands, Machu Picchu, Patagonia and meeting great people from all over the world.
